Non-Hazardous Waste Facility state-of-the-art non-hazardous processing facility

We own and operate a, state-of-the-art, 140,000-gallon non-hazardous material processing facility in High Point, North Carolina. capable of blending fuels, separating water and fuel, stabilizing and solidifying non-hazardous sludge and solid waste for direct transport and disposal. Terra Nova Solutions ensures safe, compliant processing of non-hazardous materials in both bulk and containers.

This means no dependencies on third-party leasing or contracting services. From on-site collection and transport to processing and disposal, Terra Nova Solutions controls the entire waste management lifecycle needs of its customers.

Energy Recovery

We work closely with Waste-To-Energy facilities, providing waste and refuse that would otherwise go to landfills. We all benefit as this waste stream generates significant quantities of clean, renewable energy and a reduction of greenhouse gases. Utilizing waste as a form of energy has become the baseline for success in many solid waste management systems.

Documentation

Terra Nova Solutions fully documents and tracks the disposition of all wastes resulting in easier record keeping for our customers. We retain copies of all documents pertaining to waste management services and periodically audit customer records to ensure compliance. We provide tailored reports and resources that identify the source and ultimate disposition waste streams eliminating errors and ambiguity.

In our efforts to assist customers achieve Zero Landfill, we consider the total waste-producing system, from extraction and production, all the way through consumption to final disposal. Zero Landfill is our philosophy; the ultimate strategy in our minds with every Waste Analysis Study we perform. Our goal is to eliminate waste, not just manage it. We recognize there isn’t a single model, disposal method or location that will fit the needs of our diverse customer base. Therefore, we design custom plans that fit the exact needs of every client.

Transportation

We provide the right equipment and vehicles for the job. All of our certified drug-free drivers are DOT-trained and certified in OSHA hazardous material handling. We specialize in both bulk and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, offering cost-effective solutions anywhere in the 48 contiguous states. We currently service customers in over 20 states and we are expanding operations and service areas.

Universal Waste

Universal Waste is a general term that is used to describe wastes that are generated by a broad range of establishments. These wastes are classified as universal because almost every business, non-profit organization, government agency, and household will generate them at some point. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes this fact and to ease the burden of dealing with these ubiquitous wastes, they have categorized and streamlined management standards for the following materials:

  • Batteries
  • Pesticides
  • Mercury-containing Equipment
  • Mercury Lamps
  • Fluorescent Lamps

In general, materials that fall into the category of Universal Waste are not counted towards the totals that determine your Generator’s Category for hazardous wastes.

While some of the standards that pertain to other hazardous wastes do not apply to Universal Waste, the EPA still regulates storage and disposal. We provide a Certificate of Recycling with every shipment. At Terra Nova, we are the masters of waste recovery and re-use and we’re experts in all of the EPA regulations and requirements. Give us the opportunity to earn your business and you’ll discover what our clients have come to love about us—the comfortable satisfaction of knowing Terra Nova has everything under control.

E-Waste & Electronic Recycling

Reducing harmful electronic waste in landfills and properly erasing and disposing of data storing devices like cell phones, hard drives and tablets among many others has become a major concern of companies striving to be environmental stewards. Our team promotes a Zero Landfill policy on electronics recycling and we have a corporate responsibility to ensure it’s done the right way! We provide our customers with Certificate of Recycling from every shipment.

Waste Disposal

We are masters of waste recovery and recycling. The Waste Analysis Study that we will conduct for you identifies every waste product from your operations for which there are recycling or re-use purposes. We handle it all—whether it is HAZARDOUS or NON-HAZARDOUS, large or small quantities, drums or bulk. Among the many options for disposal, we offer Fuel Blending of Btu waste for cement kilns (replacing the use of coal, oil and other fossil fuels) and waste burning to produce electricity.

Waste Recycling

Waste Recycling is the process of collecting materials from the waste streams that would have normally ended up in the landfill and processing these materials to create new products or finding ways to reuse them in alternative and beneficial ways.

By recovering and reusing useful materials from the waste streams we reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials and reduce energy usage, air and water pollution.

In the state of South Carolina alone, environmental service companies, like Terra Nova, recycle more than 1 million tons of municipal solid waste every year. This extends the life of existing landfills and positively impacts the state economy in several significant ways: through increased tax revenues, expanding job opportunities and developing new manufacturing processes. Our highly trained analysts can design a custom waste program for your operations, optimizing recycling methods and helping you maintain a safe, clean facility.

Waste to Energy

Waste-to-Energy (WtE) or Energy-from-Waste (EfW) is the process of generating energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from the primary treatment of waste.

Energy Recovery describes any technique or process that helps reduce the demand for energy to the overall system. We work closely with local Waste-to-Energy Facilities, providing them with suitable solid wastes and refuse from your manufacturing or production processes that would otherwise have gone to the landfill.

Most often, Waste-to-Energy Facilities incinerate these solid wastes, producing thermal energy to generate steam that drives turbine electrical generators. Our local communities benefit from the extended life of the landfill and more clean energy.

Waste to Fuels

Another process utilizing both hazardous and non-hazardous waste is termed Waste-to-Fuels whereby waste is processed at cement kilns for fuels.

We work closely with our approved facilities, providing waste and refuse that would otherwise have gone to the landfill. We all benefit as this waste stream generates significant quantities of clean, renewable energy and a reduction of greenhouse gases. Utilizing waste as a form of energy has become the baseline for success in many solid waste management systems.
